Attendance & Academic Performance Policy

1. Purpose & Scope

This policy ensures that students maintain a consistent presence in classes and achieve the academic standards required for progression and graduation. It applies to all students enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs.

2. Attendance Requirements
  • Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance in each course to be eligible to sit for final examinations.
  • Attendance is recorded from the first day of the semester.
  • Late arrivals and early departures from class may be recorded as partial absences.
  • Absences due to medical or personal emergencies must be supported by valid documentation and approved by the concerned department.
  • Students on official university duty (e.g., sports, competitions, research work) will be marked on “duty leave” but must inform the faculty in advance.
3. Academic Performance Standards

Undergraduate Programs

  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.0 at the end of each academic year.
  • Students falling below 2.0 CGPA will be placed on Academic Probation for one semester.
  • Failure to improve CGPA during probation may result in suspension or dismissal.

Graduate & Postgraduate Programs

  • Maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 for Master’s and 3.0 for PhD programs.
  • Students failing to meet this requirement will be placed on Academic Warning.
  • Continuous underperformance may lead to termination of enrollment.
4. Monitoring & Support
  • Academic performance is evaluated mid-semester and at the end of each semester.
  • Students at risk of academic failure will be referred to the Academic Advisory Cell for guidance and support.
  • Counseling sessions and remedial classes may be arranged for struggling students.
5. Consequences of Non-Compliance
  • Ineligibility for final exams.
  • Loss of scholarships or financial aid.
  • Suspension from the program.
  • Expulsion for repeated violations.
6. Appeals

Students may appeal against attendance or academic performance penalties by submitting a written request to the Academic Affairs Office within 7 working days of receiving the notification.
