Library Usage & Resource Policy
1. Purpose & Scope
The library at Riphah International University, Faisalabad, serves as a hub of learning and research, providing access to a wide range of academic resources in both physical and digital formats. This policy ensures that all students, faculty, and staff can use these resources effectively, responsibly, and respectfully.
2. Membership & Access
- All registered students, faculty, and staff are automatic members of the library.
- University ID cards must be presented for borrowing materials or accessing restricted areas.
- Alumni and external researchers may be granted access upon approval and payment of a visitor’s fee (if applicable).
3. Library Conduct
- Silence must be observed at all times inside the library.
- Mobile phones must be on silent mode; calls are not allowed inside reading areas.
- Food and drinks are strictly prohibited.
- Users must treat all staff and fellow members with respect.
- All library materials and equipment must be handled with care.
4. Borrowing Rules
- Undergraduate students: Maximum 3 books for 14 days.
- Graduate students: Maximum 5 books for 21 days.
- Faculty: Maximum 10 books for 1 semester.
- Renewal is allowed if the item is not reserved by another user.
- Late returns will incur a fine per day as per library policy.
5. Digital Resources
- Access to e-books, online journals, and databases is provided through the university’s digital library portal.
- Login credentials are for personal academic use only and must not be shared.
- Downloading large quantities of material in violation of licensing agreements is prohibited.
6. Restricted & Reference Materials
- Reference books, rare collections, and theses cannot be borrowed and must be used within the library premises.
- Photocopying is allowed in accordance with copyright laws.
7. Loss or Damage of Materials
- Users are responsible for replacing lost or damaged materials with the same title/edition or paying the replacement cost.
- Additional administrative charges may apply.
8. Disciplinary Action
Violations of library rules may result in:
- Suspension of borrowing privileges.
- Fines or replacement charges.
- Reporting to the Proctorial Board for repeated misconduct.
