Message from HOD
Botany unlocks how plants sustain ecosystems, economies, and human wellbeing. At the Department of Botany, our committed faculty pairs academic rigor with research-driven learning to prepare nationally relevant human resources for tomorrow’s challenges. We foster a supportive environment that nurtures curiosity, character, and competence through academics and co-curricular activities.
Explore Plants. Sustain the Future.
Ongoing, industry-oriented research projects aim to translate plant science into socio-economic value. Our purpose is clear: develop well-trained, visionary graduates ready to shoulder responsibilities in a rapidly advancing Pakistan—equipped to conserve biodiversity, improve livelihoods, and drive green innovation.
About The Department
BS Botany is a four-year, eight-semester program that builds a critical understanding of plant use and the mechanisms that support an eco-friendly environment. Students examine plant diversity and function while addressing emerging issues tied to population growth, sustainability, and resource management.
Curricular emphasis spans Genomics, Plant Physiology, Plant Tissue & Cell Culture, Gene Transformation, Genetic Engineering, Applied Botany, Phyto-Medicines, and climate-change impact assessment on the flora of Pakistan. Learning blends theory with inquiry—projects, seminars, and problem-solving tasks that connect classroom knowledge to field and industry needs.
By graduation, students are able to: (1) investigate plant growth under varied conditions and discover or characterize species; (2) analyze plant interactions with other organisms and environments; (3) explain how genetic information governs plant development; and (4) conduct research and contribute in managerial/technologist roles. These outcomes prepare graduates for advanced studies and impactful careers across conservation, agriculture, biotech, environmental services, and education.
