Dr. Maleeha Nazir

Head, Department of Dermal Sciences

Message from HOD

Skin health sits at the crossroads of medicine, science, and aesthetics. At the Department of Dermal Sciences, our mission is to develop professionals who combine a deep understanding of skin biology with safe, evidence-based practice—capable of supporting clinicians, advancing research, and contributing to ethical product innovation.

Science of Skin. Care with Evidence.

Learning here blends classroom rigor with laboratory work, supervised clinical exposure, and mentored projects. Certified consultant dermatologists deliver the dermatology-facing segments of the curriculum, while our faculty guide students in assessment, documentation, counseling, infection prevention, and interprofessional collaboration—so graduates serve patients and communities with competence and integrity.

About The Department

The Department of Dermal Sciences is an interdisciplinary hub that integrates dermatology, cosmetology, aesthetics, and medical sciences. Students study the structure and function of skin, hair, and nails; common dermatologic conditions and their presentations; and methods for comprehensive skincare assessment, including skin analysis and typing. Laboratory coursework develops proficiency in formulation science—ingredient selection, stability, quality control—and familiarizes learners with standards that govern safe development and use of skincare products.

Clinical learning emphasizes patient-centered care and ethical conduct. Under expert supervision, students explore treatment modalities—such as topical therapies, chemical peels, laser and light-based procedures, and injectables—focusing on indications, contraindications, safety protocols, and documentation. Communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and professional behavior are reinforced throughout to ensure respectful, high-quality interactions with patients and care teams.
