Message from HOD

Human Nutrition & Dietetics is a people-centered, science-driven discipline that prevents and treats disease, promotes health, and improves quality of life. At the Department of Human Nutrition & Dietetics, we prepare graduates to think critically, practice ethically, and translate evidence into better nutrition outcomes across clinical, community, and food-service settings.

Nourish Health. Advance Well-Being.

With state-of-the-art labs, a supportive learning environment, and mentoring by experienced faculty, students gain practical competence in assessment, counseling, diet planning, and research. Our aim is to produce confident professionals who can lead multidisciplinary teams and serve communities with compassion and scientific rigor.

About The Department

Established in 2019, the Department of Human Nutrition & Dietetics is recognized for value-based education within Rehabilitation & Allied Health Sciences. Programs are designed on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and endorsed by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Modern laboratories, purpose-built teaching spaces, and dedicated staff create a productive environment for study and research. The department also offers HEC-approved internship opportunities under well-trained, internationally educated dietitians—an essential step toward the registered dietitian credential.

Our curriculum integrates biochemistry and physiology with medical nutrition therapy, community nutrition, food science and technology, nutritional epidemiology, research methods, public-health nutrition, and professional practice. Learning emphasizes hands-on skills: nutritional assessment and anthropometry, individualized diet planning, therapeutic counseling, food-service management, data analysis, and adherence to professional ethics. Graduates are prepared for roles in hospitals, extended-care facilities, community programs, NGOs, wellness and industry settings, as well as for advanced study.

Program Educational Objectives:

  • Discover, share, and apply nutrition knowledge that improves food choices, nutritional status, and population well-being.
  • Provide a high-quality, inclusive educational and research environment that builds strong scientific and practical skills.
  • Conduct and use research to protect and improve health through judicious dietary intake.
  • Serve communities by leading nutrition initiatives and raising awareness at national and international levels.
