Head of the Department
Message from HOD
Safe surgery depends on meticulous preparation, sterile technique, reliable equipment, and calm teamwork under pressure. The Department of Operation Theater Technology develops professionals who ensure surgical environments are safe, efficient, and patient-centred—supporting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing teams throughout the perioperative journey.
Prepare. Protect. Perform.
Our approach blends scientific understanding with hands-on practice in instrument handling, decontamination and sterilization, anesthesia and monitoring support, OT workflow, turnover, documentation, and infection prevention. We cultivate ethical conduct, clear communication, and leadership so graduates can uphold quality and safety in every case.
About The Department
The department focuses on the principles and practices that underpin modern surgical services: operating-room management, sterile services, asepsis, equipment checks and maintenance, patient positioning and safety, anesthesia assistance, and coordination with ICU/CCU and recovery units. Learning occurs in skills labs and simulated OTs, complemented by supervised exposure in affiliated teaching hospitals.
Students train to follow evidence-based protocols, quality assurance standards, and national/international safety guidelines. Emphasis on teamwork and interprofessional collaboration prepares graduates to function confidently in both public and private hospitals, surgical centers, and specialty clinics—supporting smooth, safe operations from setup to post-operative transfer.
Departmental Training Outcomes
Graduates will be able to:
- demonstrate leadership, problem-solving, and administrative skills in OT settings;
- communicate effectively with patients and healthcare personnel using clear, respectful, and timely coordination;
- apply interdisciplinary team-building strategies for efficient collaboration across allied health disciplines.
