Sociology equips learners to understand social change, inequality, culture, and institutions—and to respond with evidence-based solutions. At the Department of Sociology, we develop reflective graduates who pair strong theory with practical research, professional ethics, and a commitment to public service.

About The Department
Established in October 2013 at Riphah International University, Faisalabad, the Department of Sociology has grown into a vibrant center for teaching and research in the social sciences. We offer three undergraduate programs—BS Sociology, BS Criminology, and BS Home Economics—along with a Postgraduate Diploma in Criminology. At the graduate level, MPhil Sociology (launched Oct 2013), PhD Sociology (Winter 2023), and MPhil Criminology (Spring 2025) provide clear pathways for advanced scholarship and professional specialization.
Our faculty brings strong academic credentials and field experience to the classroom. Students engage in surveys, qualitative studies, data analysis, and community-based projects focused on nationally and internationally relevant themes. This research culture helps inform policy on socio-economic, cultural, and public-health issues while sharpening graduates’ analytical and professional skills.
The department emphasizes conduct, discipline, and Islamic ethical values alongside academic excellence. A positive learning environment—enriched by seminars, workshops, and student societies—supports both performance and personality development.
